On vinyl for the first time: the legendary 1984 demo tape from this Hamburg punk band, featuring bonus tracks and available on both milky-translucent vinyl (100 copies, exclusive to this release) and black vinyl (200 copies)! Includes extensive liner notes, lyrics, and photos! On a foggy November afternoon in 1979, Jason Scott and Gale Anderson founded the punk band Platzangst in the Stellingen district of Hamburg. Just 14 or 15 years old, they wanted to shake up their sleepy neighborhood—inspired by the Sex Pistols and The Clash. As the only punks in the area, they faced rejection—providing the perfect source of energy for their raw sound. After early, chaotic gigs, several lineup changes, and a stint with dual lead singers, they recorded two songs for the *Waterkant Hits* compilation in 1983. The *Songs for Heroes* demo followed in 1984, with support from the likes of Rock ’n’ Rolf from Running Wild. Instead of widely distributing this promising demo, they held it back, received a rejection—and disbanded. Forty-two years later, that once-secret tape finally saw the light of day as a record. Sometimes, punk just requires patience.
