This Dutch band were mainstays of the European hardcore squat scene during the 1980s, but time eventually drew a close on its activities. In 2012, the band reformed and started to release new music, which now includes this twelve-track album containing seven new tracks and five released on a single which accompanied Artcore fanzine back in 2019. I’ll be honest, Neuroot didn’t register on my radar as a kid, and it was only that Artcore single I’d heard previously. This album reflects a band that has embraced the new as well as the old, delivering fire and brimstone towards capitalists and Nazis, amongst others. Generally, songs race along at a good clip, but on the likes of “They Lie We DIY,” there’s more of an industrial pummeling going on. The album has one cover track, “City Boy,” originally done in 1977 by fellow Dutch band The Flyin’ Spiderz. This has a more metal sound with a couple of guitar solos marking it out as different to the rest of the songs on False Profit. After I’m done giving this some action, I’ll be digging into Neuroot’s back catalogue, as I expect I’ll be finding more music that I’ll like
